The XIV Annual Meeting of the Italian Chapter of the European Society of Biomechanics (ESB-ITA) will take place in Palermo, Italy, on June 18–19, 2025. Hosted by the Department of Engineering, the event will be held on the campus of the University of Palermo, beginning on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 18, and concluding with a full day of sessions on Thursday, June 19.
For the first time, the ESB-ITA Annual Meeting will be held in conjunction with the IX National Congress of Bioengineering (GNB 2025), fostering collaboration between the two societies. The GNB meeting will run from Monday, June 16, to Wednesday, June 18, with the ESB-ITA Thematic Session on Wednesday afternoon and the General Session on Thursday. This combined event will create a unique, four-day conference, bringing together researchers and experts in biomechanics and bioengineering. Participants in good standing with ESB can access discounts for both events.
The first day of the ESB-ITA meeting will feature the Thematic Session, “Cardiovascular Biomechanics: New Frontiers” focusing on advances in cardiovascular biomechanics and future directions. This session will address research on function and structure in both normal and pathological states, innovations in medical device design, and biomechanics-based therapeutic strategies to address cardiovascular disorders.
The General Session on Thursday will showcase the latest developments in biomechanics across Italy, with topics spanning hard and soft tissue mechanics, remodeling, musculoskeletal biomechanics, mechanobiology, orthopedics, respiratory biomechanics, and medical devices. The interaction between biological tissues and devices will also be a key focus.
The program will include keynote lectures by prominent scientists and awards for outstanding presentations by early-career investigators and established researchers.
